Moura is located in Banana Shire on the Dawson Highway,

180km south-west of Rockhampton or 586 km north-west of Brisbane.

This diverse township is located in the Dawson Valley.

It is well known for its Coal, Cattle, Cotton & Crops.

Events

 

River Festival

 

Dawson River Festival Dawson River Towns (Baralaba, Moura, Theodore and Taroom) combined to present the Dawson River Festival. This first combined event was designed to attract tourists to the area was held in September 2011. Each town hosted an event on the Dawson River on one weekend.

The festival started 3rd – 4th September in Baralaba with their campdraft competition. The next weekend, 16th – 18th September, was celebrated in Moura with the annual skiing competition. The 24th – 25th September included the Taroom Race Day. The festival finished in Theodore on 1st – 2nd October where Theodore held riverside markets and presented “Jam on the Junction” entertainment.

Events were structured and diversified to attract spectators and participants from all four towns, surrounding shires and nationally travelling tourists.
